Thank you! Over 25 abstracts received for IDC²E²

We have been overwhelmed by the number of people keen to share their work and experiences with us at the 2 nd Danube Cup International Conference on Entrepreneurship this November in historical Belgrade. Thank you to all who submitted one of the 25 plus abstracts we received! Topics range from the entrepreneurial intention of students and entrepreneurship among minorities to the effects of Covid 19 on e’ship, the communication aspects and the role of teamwork, best practices in entrepreneurship education, the role of IP protection for startup successes, and so much more. Countries represented include Austria, Ukraine, Serbia, Hungary, Moldova, Germany, the UK and many more. We were happy to receive submissions from first time speakers, too. We must think about the next generation in entrepreneurship research and education!

Our Abstract Review Committee have a big job ahead of them – the assessment process is underway now and we will be back in touch with all applicants as soon as possible. The dynamic two-day program will showcase a range of perspectives, experiences, and insights – all critical in delivering this learning and professional development opportunity for our community.
Important remark: On the 2 nd day of the conference there will be a research workshop led by Prof. Elisabeth Berger, who is the co-editor of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research Q1 (maximum number of participants: 10 people!). For this workshop, the application deadline is the 31 st of October. Further details will follow soon, via social media platforms and direct mail. The same goes for our Research Elevator Pitch session on day 2.

Andrea S. Gubik
Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Miskolc, (Hungary).

Andrea S. Gubik is an Associate Professor at the University of Miskolc (Hungary). She holds a PhD in Management and Business Administration. She is a member of several scientific associations, among others, the Scientific Committee on Statistics and Futures Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a member of the editorial board of the International Entrepreneurship Review and the Messenger of ASUE. She has been awarded the Research Fellowship of the Laky Teréz Foundation, the Young Scientist Award of the Miskolc Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Budapest Business School Science Prize and the Excellent Researcher Award by the University of Miskolc. She deals with entrepreneurship, especially interested in the role of formal and informal institutional factors in the start-up decision. She is the Hungarian coordinator of the GUESSS (Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students‘ Survey) project.

Jan-Philipp Ahrens
Professor at the University of Passau / University of Mannheim

Jan-Philipp Ahrens is professor at the University of Passau, Chair of International Management and Social Entrepreneurship, and Head of the Interdisciplinary Research Group Family Firms at the University of Mannheim. Jan-Philipp’s research group operates a super computer infrastructure dedicated to research firm and human behaviour (CEOs) with respect to justice and sustainability (UN SDGs) using big data and artificial intelligence-based approaches. His research was awarded or nominated for more than twenty research awards and is published in high impact journals, such as the Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice and the Journal of Management Studies. He serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Family Business Strategy.

Prof. Robert Faff
Professor of Finance at University Of Queensland

Robert Faff is Professor of Finance and formerly Director of Research at the UQ Business School. He has an international reputation in empirical finance research: securing 14 Australian Research Council grants (funding exceeding $4 million); >310 refereed journal publications; career citations >12,800 (Google Scholar); and a h-index of 57 (Google Scholar). His particular passion is nurturing and developing the career trajectories of early career researchers. Robert has supervised approximately 40 PhD students to successful completion and examined 50 PhD dissertations. Building on a 35-year academic career, his latest focus is “Pitching Research”, now gaining great traction domestically and worldwide as exemplified by: (a) >13,600 SSRN downloads; (b) >300 pitching talks/events; (c) at 37 Australian universities; and (d) spanning 52 different countries. In addition, Robert is Editor-in-Chief of Pacific-Basin Finance Journal; formerly: Editor of Accounting and Finance (2002-2011) and Associate Editor of several journals including Abacus and Australian Journal of Management.

University of Belgrade (UB) is the premier research and higher education institution in the Republic of Serbia. Along with teaching activities, with more than 150 programs at undergraduate level and a large number of highly specialized graduate-level programs, the University is a leader in scientific research in Serbia and the region.

Today, FON is the leading faculty in the region covering the academic fields of management and organization, and information systems and technologies with more than 16,000 graduates, 6,500 students with master’s degree, a great number of specialists amounting to around 1,300 MPhil, and more than 450 PhD degree holders.

The Faculty has successfully received international accreditation for undergraduate academic studies for all study programs. Accreditation was carried out by the German agency for study programs in the field of technical sciences, informatics, natural sciences and mathematics – ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik e.V, Deutschland – Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics e.V, Germany, http://www.asiin.de/). This accreditation is a confirmation of international quality of study programs, which has increased the visibility and value of FON abroad, and has opened greater possibility of student and graduates’ mobility.

From its very founding, The Faculty of Organizational Sciences has been designed as a school engaged in engineering approach to management, modeled according to Sloan School of Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. All study programs that have so far been implemented at FON have a strong quantitative and IT background combined with organizational and study program-specific knowledge. The professional title of Engineer of Organizational Sciences belongs to the field of technical and technological sciences.

The strategic aim of the Faculty is to establish and develop cooperation, both with national higher education institutions, and international organizations and foundations. FON was one of the first faculties at the University of Belgrade to recognize the need to inform teachers, students and staff on the possibilities of international relations.

International cooperation is one of the key elements of the development strategy. FON participates in various exchange programs, such as Erasmus+, Cepus, DAAD, EUROWEB, for the mobility of students, teaching, and administrative staff.

The Faculty of Organizational Sciences values the importance of connecting academy and practice and was the first one at the University to introduce students internship program. Faculty continues to intensify relations with leading domestic and foreign companies, adapts programs to the needs of the market, thus providing its students with the opportunity to improve their knowledge and awareness of business systems.

In response to rapid changes, the green agenda and digital transformation, the University of Belgrade improves and digitizes its activities, while FON follows and adapts to these trends through innovation in digital infrastructure, creativity in the educational program and hybridity in the field of educational process.

In 2016, Faculty of Organizational Sciences established the Research and Development Hub, a place of gathering and extracurricular engagement of students and mentors in an unique, stimulating atmosphere of joint work, knowledge exchange, development of entrepreneurial initiatives and strengthening of the startup community at the Faculty.

A great number of FON students actively participate in student organizations and various extracurricular activities. We are particularly proud of the numerous medals our students have won in different national and international competitions both in academic fields and sports.
